This is IGI Bandwagon the second!! After our VW Gol 98 gave up 80 km from La Serena and only 4 hours into our trip in Chile we bought a second car from a friend of a friend whom had taken good care of his 1992 Mazda!
Today we will drive up to 4500m altitude to cross into Argentina by the Paso de Jama. We will be over 4000m for 60km and then drop back down into Argentina to head up through to Bolivia. We hadn`t planned to go this way, but the roads on the Chile/Bolivia border wouldn’t allow our wagon to go on with our mission.
Supposedly this car has a carburator and will be able to handle the altitude!!!
We have been in San Pedro de Atacama (2500m) for 3 days now, we should be accustomed enough to the altitude to handle the extra 2 km altitude challenge today!!!
